I’m back….

Hello, Hello…I’m back. Have been missing from this place for the last 3 months but am back now. And you thought that you had seen the last of me, eh? No such luck mate. I’m back, with renewed vigour to force, plead and beg (OK it will be mostly begging) people to read and comment on the stupid crap I write. He he he…and I have no plans to stop doing this anytime soon. And yes, I will wait till go curse your fate...go on, I’ll still be here when you come back.

Now that I have announced that I'm back, I am actually pretty clueless on what further to say. Not that the last 3 months were any less exciting, it’s just that there is so much to update that I cant figure out where to start.

Hmm…I guess revisiting an old post written during the beginning of the year and providing an update on the guidelines I had for 2014 can be a good starting post. Since we are already halfway through the year, let’s see what all can be ticked off.

Guidelines for happy and successful 2014

Short Term

  • Move that lazy butt off the couch. Walk, jog, pedal & swim through 2014.

I have completed two 10k runs till now and I rediscovered the joy of running in the process.  I can say I am pretty happy with the walk & jog part. Not much progress on the other two activities. I don’t think borrowing a cycle and getting it repaired counts as cycling, does it? Dang!..Can I at least have some brownie points for that? Have not even seen a pool till date. L Hopefully some course correction and can tick both of them off by end of the year.

  • Write a few lines everyday.

I have 10 posts on the blog. 7 of which came in Jan, 2 in Feb and 1 in Mar. Have been out of action for Apr, May and half of Jun. Hmm…not really happy. I have 6-7 posts in the works, a whole bunch of ideas for new ones but have just not been able to put the pen to paper (should it be finger to keyboard?). Need to shake off the cobwebs and be a lot more regular.

Mid Term

  • Connect more with nature. Hit the trek trails on a regular basis.

Good progress here, have been regular in trekking. Some of the treks have not been updated in the blog though. Each trek is a post by itself. Could have easily added 3-4 more posts and that is a good way to ensure the previous guideline of “write a few lines everyday” is also covered.

  • Read, read, and read more. Explore new genres and authors.

I have picked up books in new genres & authors. These have mostly books of the bloggers whom I follow. However, I am really ashamed to say that I managed to finish only 1, that too on a flight. Dismal outing here.

Long Term

  • Sample a new cuisine. If possible learn to cook a couple of dishes.

Assamase…fell in love with their sticky rice and spicy chutneys. How can I forget Apung, the freshly brewed rice beer. Slurp, slurp…mouth’s watering just remembering all the food. I was not able to learn to cook though. Anybody willing to teach assamese cuisine in Bangalore will get a very willing student.

  • Travel to a destination not visited before.

North East India for 7 days. Covered Assam, Arunachal & Meghalaya. What beauty in those lands. It seems that Mother Nature has bestowed all her bounty there. That is a whole blog series in itself. 7 days just don’t do justice to those places. I promised myself to visit again.

  • Still be active on “Swalpa Adjust Maadi…kindly adjust” at the end of the year.

The frequency of the posts is not up to my expectations. But hey, half the year and am still posting. Now am sure that by the end of the year I will be posting too.

And now to one of the more significant update and event that happened in the last 3 months. It was not in my list of guidelines, but, I strongly suspect that it was mum’s resolution for 2014.

Drumroll…… I am officially not single anymore. I am engaged and am due to get hitched in a couple of weeks.  For some strange reason, the only thing that is popping in my head is this quote from Socrates. I will sign off with it.

“By all means, marry. If you get a good wife you’ll become happy; if not, you’ll become a philosopher”
